Create Homemade Wood Polish Create Homemade Wood Polish
Make your own homemade wood polish to save money on expensive commercial varieties. Your unique concoction will smell better and contain fewer synthetic chemicals, which makes it better for the environment. If you have allergies, create your own wood polishes to avoid added scents that can aggravate your sinuses. To start, gather some basic ingredients that are probably already in your kitchen. Here are a couple of mixtures to try.
Eucalyptus Oil Mixture
For a naturally fresh-smelling polish, fill a spray bottle with half a gallon of water. Add 10 to 15 drops of eucalyptus oil. You can buy the oil at any herbal shop. Shake well before each use.
Vinegar Jojoba Mixture
Fill a spray bottle with .25-cups of white distilled vinegar then add a few drops of liquid wax jojoba. Shake well before each use. The vinegar will deeply clean the wood while the oil prevents it from drying. If you're having a hard time finding liquid wax jojoba because usually only available in herbal shops or organic stores, you can use a few drops of olive oil instead. Be aware that the shelf life of olive oil is shorter, so you must watch this mixture to make sure it doesn't go rancid, especially in hot weather.
