Adding or updating a pantry to your kitchen doesn’t mean you have to stick with something basic. Here are some creative ways to add a stylish look to your pantry doors.
1. Glass Doors
Don’t be afraid of showing what you have in your pantry. Glass doors are a great way to add style to any kitchen. For a modern kitchen, a clear glass door will give you a sleek-looking pantry without taking away from the overall look. If you want to keep the pantry shelves concealed consider a frosted glass instead.
If you want a really unique way to enhance your pantry doors, consider adding stained glass panels to the front of the door. You can do this to match your kitchen regardless of the overall style. A stained glass pantry door will coordinate with anything from a simple rustic look to an elegant stylized kitchen.
2. Multi-Function Doors
This is a great idea for an active family. Consider adding a chalkboard to the front of the door. You can purchase a chalkboard that will extend the entire length of the door. This will add style and function to your kitchen. You can say goodbye to lost sticky notes, appointment cards stuck to the fridge, etc. This is also a great way to keep children busy and occupied while you work in the kitchen. Simply hand them a box of colored chalk and have them draw a mural.
3. Concealed Doors
You can purchase extra cabinet doors that match the cabinets you already have hung. Use these doors to place over the pantry door. Add hardware to make them look like functioning cabinets, and no one will know it’s a pantry. This will give your kitchen a completely seamless look without a pantry door sticking out.
4. Mural Doors
You can add a neat touch to your pantry door by painting a mural or other scene on the door. If you don’t think you’re creative enough to do this on your own, you can purchase wallpaper panels made specifically for doors that are murals. Any wallpaper specialty store will have these. They are available in a wide selection of designs and are generally no more than $70.
5. Tin Hole Punch
For a rustic or country kitchen, these are perfect. A layer of tin is punched with a design and you just press them on top of the existing door. They are certainly unique and fairly inexpensive. It’s a great way to showcase the décor of your kitchen without taking away from it with a pantry door.
6. Screen Doors
Why not add a completely different look by installing an old screen door to your pantry in lieu of a traditional door. You can paint the frame any color you wish, and you can even keep the screen in the door for an extra touch. These can be found at any hardware store. You may want to keep an eye open at flea markets, antique shops, and junk stores for a more aged look.
