December DIM Star: Driveway Redo December DIM Star: Driveway Redo

Once a month we like to shine the spotlight on an impressive DIYer by giving their shared project the ol’ “Did It Myself” (DIM) stamp of honor. And, as an added bonus, all DIM Stars are automatically entered into consideration for our first annual DIM Awards next May.

This month we congratulate “CLScientist” on their driveway repair. Share your project and next time it could be you!

What They Did

"CLScientist" had a thin, broken slab of concrete in their driveway that needed to be removed and replaced. This DIYer rented a handheld concrete saw to remove the broken slab, dug the ground underneath to a depth of 7 inches, and laid a new 6 by 6 foot concrete slab. They also added a short slab connecting to the front walk. The total project ended up costing $300.

Why We Like It

This project took "CLScientist" and his family 16 hours of work from start to finish. They claim they will never tackle this amount of work at once ever again, but we think they did a great job!
