Keep reading to learn what you can brew up yourself!

Hot Drinks

Let’s start by delving into some hot drinks to warm your spirit and fight off germs during the winter season. These are perfect to sip on in front of the fire or throw in your to-go cup to warm you on your morning commute!

Ginger Tea

A cup of ginger tea.

To make this concoction, you’ll need only two simple ingredients! The first is three ounces of thinly-sliced ginger root and the second is merely a cup of water. That’s it! To make, boil the two together and use a strainer to get rid of any pieces of ginger that did not dissolve. If desired, add honey to taste. This is not only delicious, but it’s also a healthy drink because ginger is known to promote good digestion, and has anti-tussive properties that can relieve coughing. It also has antioxidant effects on the body.

Apple Cider With Cinnamon

This is another drink that packs some serious punch! Made with only two ingredients, you can throw it together even if you’re on the go. Warm up your cider, then add the cinnamon stick and stir. What makes it healthy? Cider is a good source of both vitamin C and iron. Cinnamon is healthy because it promotes good digestion, moderates blood sugar levels, and naturally fights viruses.

Hot Vanilla Chai Tea

A cup of chai tea.

This drink has a bit more to it, but it’s worth the effort! You will need the following:

  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 peppercorns
  • 3 whole cloves
  • an eighth teaspoon of nutmeg
  • a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon
  • a quarter teaspoon of ground ginger
  • a cinnamon stick
  • 2 black tea bags
  • a tablespoon of brown sugar
  • a teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/2 cup of milk

Start by mixing the water, peppercorns, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a saucepan over the stove. Bringing the mixture to a boil, let it simmer for five minutes or longer. The longer it boils, the more flavor will be present in your drink! When ready, turn off the stove and steep both tea bags in the water for about five minutes. Stir in the brown sugar and vanilla. Finally, heat the milk in the microwave for about fifteen seconds, and then stir it into the tea.

This is a healthy mix due to the wealth of ingredients. As we’ve mentioned, ginger has a host of health benefits associated with it. The same goes for cinnamon, meaning you’re getting a double dose of naturally healthy and immune-boosting substances in one drink!

Cold Drinks

A drop in temperature doesn’t mean you have to stick to exclusively hot drinks. Smoothies have a place in all of our hearts, and that means you can drink them all winter long! Check out our favorite healthy smoothie recipes below.

Tangerine, Carrot, and Turmeric Smoothie

For something unique yet yummy, this smoothie hits the mark! You will need the following:

  • 1 up of almond milk
  • 1/2 cup of whole milk Greek yogurt
  • 2 peeled tangerines
  • 2 sliced medium carrots
  • Teaspoon of ground turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons of agave syrup
  • 1 cup of crushed ice

Throw all of the ingredients in your blender and pulse until smooth. Pour into your favorite cup and enjoy!

This smoothie will naturally make you healthier through its rich ingredients. Tangerines are good for your bones and heart, boasting high levels of vitamin C and potassium. Next, carrots have the ability to improve your skin (which can often suffer in the winter), boost immunity, and are rich in vitamins and minerals. Turmeric dramatically increases the antioxidant capacity within the body and also acts as an anti-inflammatory.

Cranberry and Orange Smoothie

This is a sweet and healthy treat you’ll want to drink every morning! Combine one cup of almond milk, a half cup of whole milk Greek yogurt, two-thirds cup of frozen cranberries, two peeled and sliced oranges, and two tablespoons of maple syrup in the blender until smooth. Not only does the yogurt in this drink provide great protein, but the cranberries are a great source of vitamin C and act as an anti-inflammatory. Furthermore, oranges alkalize the body, aid in healthy digestion, and have a range of other health benefits.

Pear, Oat, and Maple Smoothie

This last smoothie will keep you energized, healthy, and full! You will need the following:

  • 1 cup of vanilla oat milk
  • 1 cup of whole milk Greek yogurt
  • 2 cored and sliced pears
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • 1 cup of crushed ice

Blend the ingredients together and enjoy! You will feel great after drinking this mix as pears allow for healthy digestion, help the body to naturally detox, and are rich in antioxidants. Additionally, oats are good for your digestive system, help your skin, and are also rich in antioxidants.

These drink recipes are versatile, but they’re all extremely delicious and nutritious all rolled into one! They’ll quickly become winter favorites, and we have a feeling you’ll love how great they make you feel once you start sipping on them day after day. Cheers!
