The two types of window film include Low emissivity and solar window film. Low Emissivity Window film is also known as Low-E film and this is designed to prevent solar heat entering your building and also prevent the heat inside your home from escaping during the winter. Solar window film on the other hand is simply designed to prevent solar heat from entering your building.
Solar Window Films
Solar window films are the most useful way to reduce your air conditioning costs throughout the summer months. In areas with high heat, like desert areas, this can really help save you money. This type of film does not help your home in the winter.
Solar film works by blocking infrared rays from entering through the window. Infrared is a type of invisible light which carries heat. You can purchase solar films which are available in tinted or natural colors. Clear films don't change the look of your window and don't block the amount of visible light from entering the room. Tinted window films are generally much more effective and they can block around 80% of the solar heat from the sunlight. Compare the various different types of window film on offer so that you can decide on the best one to provide everything you need.
Low-E window film will have the same benefits as solar window film, but also helps to reduce your winter heating costs. This is possible because the low-e film blocks the heat from leaving the room which will help it to warm up much quicker. Low-E film will block energy from entering and leaving the room. This film can reduce the heating bills by one third of the total costs.
Both of these types of window film are extremely easy to apply to the window. They are packaged so that they are applied easily. You simply need to stick the tinting onto the surface of the glass, from inside the home. They use a very strong glue to prevent the chances of the window film from falling off or coming away from the window. Typically, the film will last for many years. The tint may need to replaced after five years, or so, to keep it looking fresh and new. The cost of the tint is usually not expensive and you can find the tint at any home improvement center.
