Does a coolant leak give off an odor? Does a coolant leak give off an odor?

A coolant leak does give off an odor, so if you smell a sickly sweet odor, it is possible the antifreeze in your car is leaking. Some people say it has more of a sulfur smell, instead of a sweet smell, so perhaps it smells different to different people. Whatever the case, it definitely has a smell that would be noticed, plus you will probably also see a greenish colored puddle underneath your car.  You may notice the sweet smell emanating from your air vents. Also, if your coolant is old and burnt, you will possibly smell a burning smell, instead of a sweet or sulfur smell.
