A rope ladder is made from boards cut with an electric saw that have been put into place along two ropes. They are extremely useful and most people build them for play equipment or fire escapes. To make a rope ladder all you need is two long ropes, wood, an electric saw, and a drill.
- Step 1: Cut some wood with an electric saw into 4" x 18" pieces. Make sure the wood will be thick enough to support someone's weight.
- Step 2: Use a drill to make holes on each end of the boards, but make sure they are big enough to stick the rope through.
- Step 3: Tie the bottom ends of the ropes into two big knots and thread on the first board.
- Step 4: Measure out about 18" of space between the board and the next knots and repeat the process until you are out of rope.
Safety with an Electric Saw
An electric saw will make the process much faster, but you must be careful. Avoid getting the blade anywhere near your body and always use gloves and safety goggles. It's also best to use an electric saw outside so it is easier to clean up.
