Fill Holes in Wood Paneling in 3 Steps

Wood paneling is a simple and affordable decorative option for your walls because it can revitalize the look of any room. The best part of paneling is that you can do it all yourself. Wall paneling can be installed easily. The nails that you use for the installation will show holes in the panel, but the holes can be filled in and made to appear less noticeable with the steps described below.

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Wood putty
  • Putty knife
  • Sandpaper
  • Cloth
  • Paint and paintbrush

Step 1 - Filling with Wood Putty

Purchase wood putty that matches the color of the wall paneling. Apply the wood putty in the holes with a putty knife. Smoothen it as much as you can. Allow the wood putty enough time to dry

Step 2 - Sanding

Next, lightly sand the area with a fine grit sandpaper to help provide a smooth look to the area. When you are done, wipe with a damp cloth to remove the dust.

If you have painted your paneling, you will need to paint the patched up areas as well. Match the color to the area and paint the entire panel so that it has a consistent color throughout the entire panel.
