Finding Your Soulmate Through Astrology

If you aren’t an active practitioner of astrology, then you probably know very little beyond “your sign.” But even still, you most likely want to find your soulmate someday. As it turns out, your sign is merely your “sun sign,” and in terms of the more complex astrological predictions. like who you’ll fall in love with, it’s not as significant as some other factors.

Your sun sign is, put simply, the constellation that happened to be in the same spot in our sky as the Sun at the time of your birth. But even that doesn’t dictate who your astrological soul mate could be.

Here's what you need to know to begin your search for the one.

The Elements

All 12 Zodiac members are split between the basic four elements.

• Earth: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are individuals who have a goal of material security.
• Wind: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are all signs who wish to communicate in life.
• Fire: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius all want lives of adventure.
• Water: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces seek emotional security in life.

People who share a common element, and thus the same kinds of goals, tend to be compatible, but that doesn’t necessarily mean love.

To find that deeper level of compatibility, you can’t simply look at the Sun, but have to consider the aspects between the Sun, the Moon, and Venus. While the Sun shows your life goals, the Moon shows emotional needs, and Venus shows relationship desires. If you want to find your true soul mate, you’ll need to find someone with whom you can support each other's needs and desires, as well as goals.

Birth Charts

To truly begin to understand your future and your potential for love, you must find an astrological birth chart. There are many available online.

If you are new to this, the first thing you should do is find your day, and more importantly the time of your birth and see how it relates to the chart. The Earth is constantly rotating hour after hour, shifting our place in relation to the other planets and signs, so taking astrological readings that originate on an hour timetable as opposed to a day’s timetable are much more insightful.

The Seventh House

First, determine what constellation was rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of your birth. That will be your Ascendant, or your Rising Sun sign. Directly opposite the ascendant across the horizon, you will find the Descendant, or the sign that was setting in the West during your birth.

The Ascendant naturally attracts the sign that it opposes because that will be the sign on the Seventh House. For example, a headstrong, impulsive Aries rising will have diplomatic, peace loving Libra on the Seventh House. Aries and Libra are directly opposite in the zodiac. A tidy Virgo ascendant will have romantic, messy Pisces on the Seventh House. You will soon see from the sign on this house if your new love matches up.

Also, look at any planets in the Seventh House. Soulmates will have strong ties through this house. For example, one partner's Sun or Moon may be in the other partner's Seventh House, showing a strong soulmate connection. If there are no planets in the Seventh House, the astrologer will use the ruling planet, the planet that rules the sign, as an indicator of Seventh House ties. For example, Libra on the Seventh House makes Venus the ruler, emphasizing that person's desire for a love connection. So, the astrologer will look at the position of Venus in both charts, to see if this desire is supported.

Locate the ruler of the empty Seventh House and look it up in the charts to see what it says about your relationship.

Aspects Between Mars and Venus

Aspects are used to describe the angular relationships between the planets in the horoscope. Mars and Venus working in harmony make for a happy couple, romantically and sexually.

The aspects between planets are important. The trine (120 degrees) and the sextile (60 degrees) are the easiest and most promising. The square (90 degrees) and the opposition (180 degrees) present some challenges but they can be even stronger in binding people together.

Deciding if planets are in aspect is easy. The degree of the planet in a sign will be numbered 0-29. If a planet is at 10 degrees in one chart, and at 5-15 degrees in the other chart, they are in aspect. There should not be a difference greater than five degrees.

The Outer Planets

Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are important in determining the quality of a relationship. Look for aspects between the outer planets and the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn between the charts. These seven planets are called the personal planets and aspects to these planets are important.

• Uranus: An aspect to Uranus to a personal planet in either chart, or from one chart to another, is worrying. This can indicate excitement and change, but also sudden break ups and inherently unstable relationships.
• Neptune: Aspects to Neptune indicate deep feelings and romance. This is important between soul mates, because strong aspects show the couple shares an intense romantic connection.
• Pluto: Aspects to Pluto can be tricky - they can show a couple fated to be together, but they can also show obsession that could become a power struggle. However, Pluto is often a strong factor with soul mates because of the depth of the connection.

The North Node of the Moon

The ecliptic is a visual projection of the Earth’s orbit onto the sky. In astrology, the ecliptic represents the path that the sun appears to trace as we view it moving through the stars.

The North Node, is the point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic as it moves toward the northern hemisphere.

The North Node is activated when someone important comes into our life and is associated with finding a soulmate. If you or your partner's North Node connects with a personal planet in the other chart, this is a very strong clue that you could be soulmates.
