Fireclay Kitchen Sink Care and Maintenance

Fire clay kitchen sinks are very durable. Fire clay is one of the oldest manufacturing processes. Your kitchen sink is used daily and you will want to keep up maintenance so your sink clean and protected and to be sure it stays looking new.

1 - Cleaning

To clean your fire clay sink, use a low abrasive cleaner and a sponge. Wiping it out after each use with just warm water and a sponge will keep down stains. If you do happen to get a stubborn stain, apply baking soda to the stain and rub with your sponge until it comes up.

2 - Repair

If you happen to get a chip in the fire clay, it is important to get it fixed as soon as possible. Repair kits are available at home improvement stores, and are very easy to use. It will come with everything you need to repair and seal about 6 small repairs.

3 - Seal

To keep a nice luster on your sink, and easy to keep clean, apply a coat of carnauba wax to the surface. Be sure it is clean and dry first. This is the same type wax you apply to your car. You will apply it the same way, making sure you rub until you have removed all of the residue. This will also alleviate water spots.
