Mild or all-natural brands of soap, when combined with water, are acceptable floor cleaners in homes with pets. To be safe, you should always keep your pets away from the area being cleaned until all of the soap has been rinsed away. While it won't leave behind any potentially harmful fumes, you don't want your animals to accidentally ingest any soap.
Although they can be rather costly to own, the steam generated by steam cleaners won't have any adverse health effects on animals. Just make sure that your steam cleaner is filled with water and not a commercial cleaning solution which can be harmful to your pets.
