Floral Spray Paint Basics Explained
The use of floral spray paint gives people the ability to change the color of real flowers to match whatever color scheme they want to work with. This type of spray paint is non-toxic and does not harm the flower at all. The same qualities that you love about the flower - the shape, smell, and size, are not going to be affected by floral spray paint. If you want to try using the floral spray paint, here are some tips to help you with it.
It Is a Spray
Floral spray paint comes in a can much like you would find with a normal spray paint. This means that this type of paint is an aerosol that moves through the air. You will want to make sure that the room where you will be working is going to be well ventilated before you begin spraying any flowers. The fumes, while non toxic, can cause other respiratory problems in people who have asthma or similar problems. You may want to use a small respirator mask if the fumes are a problem for you.
Basic Spray Rules Apply
One of the most misunderstood rules about using spray paint is that which pertains to the distance that you use the paint. For painting with floral spray paint, the same basic rules applies. You want to hold the can straight up and down and at least a 6 to 8 inch distance. This will help you control the stream of the paint and coat only the portion of flower that you want. A lot of mistakes are made when people spray the paint from too far away.
Spray One at a Time
It is a big temptation to want to group all of the flowers together and spray them all with one blast of the paint. This is a temptation that should be avoided. When working with the floral spray paint you should spray one single flower at a time and use short bursts of paint. This way you will get an even coating over the entire surface instead of hitting what is showing.
Painting with the floral paint is great for those times when the color you want is not within the color spectrum of the flower. If you love tulips, but want a deep azure blue, you will not be able to find it. However, you can adorn your wedding, anniversary, or other special event with a blue tulip with the use of floral spray paint. Depending on the type of color you want to use, you can find a can of paint for it.
There may be times when you want to have flowers that have several different colors at a time. This is done very easily with a floral spray. Once you paint the flower with one color you will need to set it aside for at least 30 to 45 minutes before adding another color. Make sure you cover the whole surface with the first color to ensure that there are no gaps between the two different colors.
