Going Green: Removing Rust from Glass Shower Door Hardware

A glass shower door is a wonderful alternative to shower curtains. They allow light to be reflected into the shower stall and allow the room to look brighter. Also, these shower doors are great if you have an artistic shower wall that you want to show off.

Shower Doors and Rust

Your glass shower doors can be susceptible to rust. The rusting can be found on the metal rollers. When this happens, it makes the rollers so much harder to move. The rust happens because the shower door is exposed to moisture. But if these are maintained properly, rust should not be a problem for you.

How to Remove Rust

There are many ways to remove rust from your glass shower door. One thing you can try is rubbing alcohol. Simply rub it over the stains and rinse.

If the alcohol does not work, try a non-abrasive cleanser for this. Just put a small amount on a wet sponge and scrub the rust off.

A paste of baking soda and water is another good option. Leave the cleanser for around 20 minutes and rinse afterward. This is also a good way to rid the door of soap scum that has accumulated.

You can also try salt and some lemon juice.
