When the pennies are tight and Halloween is right around the corner the best thing you can do is make your own homemade costumes. Halloween costumes should be fun to make and wear, regardless if you're just handing out candy to the neighborhood kids or trying to win the grand prize at a costume party. This article will give you ideas on how to make a costume.

President's Secret Service

This is an easy costume to pull off, as all you need is a black suit and tie as well as a white shirt underneath and dark sunglasses. A tell tale marker of the secret service agent is the way in which they conduct themselves. The supplies are simple:

  • Black suit which includes the jacket, pants, loafers, and tie
  • White button shirt
  • Wrist watch
  • Sunglasses
  • Ear piece with coiled wire

You simply put on the suit and look stoic. Every so often look around and talk into the wristband. This is one of those Halloween costumes that is connected to how you carry yourself. You can also be an IRS agent, insurance agent, or one of the men in black.

Doctor is Inn

This old standby is great in a pinch and all you really need are normal work clothes. You will also want either a white blazer or long coat to be your lab coat. Add a cheap stethoscope, clipboard, and pocket protector.

TV Host

This may be one of the easiest homemade costumes to complete. You will require a suit and tie as well as a microphone. Put on the suit and act like a creepy television host.

Zombie

Creating a zombie character is easy and helps aid in your recycling efforts. Gather up a bunch of clothes you don't want to have around. Take a pair of scissors and begin putting holes and shredding it all. You'll also need some inexpensive ghoul colored makeup to make yourself up to look the part. Add some fake blood, walk with a limp and slouched over to complete the character.

Classic Robber

This is always a fun costume to make because it's simple and inexpensive. All you need is a pair of black pants, a black long-sleeve shirt, and black shoes. Add to that a black mask to cover your eyes, a fake gun, and a droopy hat and you have a burglar from years past.

Jailbird

This is much like the classic robber. You want all white clothing but you need black spray paint. On the white clothing paint the stripes across the items. Add the prisoner number to the back of the outfit.

The Hobo King

Another simple costume-all you need are a set of old clothing. It does not matter if they are old and worn out because that is the look you are going for. Take a pair of scissors and start making your hobo outfit by ripping and shredding the clothing. You can add some dirt to your clothing, face, and carry a long stick with a satchel attached to it.
