What You'll Need
Water
Lemonade flavored drink mix
Pump spray bottle
Baby oil
Furniture polish
A clean towel or rag
Scrubbing pad or sponge

The key to hard water stain removal is using a solution that will dissolve the mineral deposits causing the stains. Here some recipes for removing water stains around your house.

The Lemonade Remedy

Fill the spray bottle with 2/3 cups of water. Empty 1 packet of lemonade flavored drink mix into the bottle and shake well. Spray the solution on to the surface covered in hard water stains and scrub. Wipe off the solution with a sponge and rinse thoroughly. Use this remedy on a shower door or mix up a smaller batch with the same ratio of water to drink mix for smaller jobs.

The Baby Oil Remedy

Apply a thin layer of baby oil to your faucets or glass fixtures in your homes to temporarily protect them. Get a clean towel or rag and put some baby oil on. Rub the oil on the surface of the stained object but do not rinse it away.

The Furniture Polish Remedy

A citrus based furniture polish works best in this remedy. Choose a polisher that lists lemon or orange on the label as a key ingredient. Liberally spray the polish onto the surface covered in hard water stains then wipe, or scrub off the deposits, depending upon on how thick they are. Once all stains have been removed, rinse with soapy water to remove oily residue. Remember the key is breaking down the deposits.

These three remedies can break down hard water stains and can be repeated as needed but won’t cure your hard water problems for good.
