How can I fix a mailbox post that broke off from the cement?
A mailbox post can be broken for many reasons, including rotting wood or a snow plow that gets too close. A post that has broken off from the cement is a challenge to fix. You can repair the post by nailing a piece of wood to the broken off piece, and then screwing a new post to this wood. Fixing a post in this manner will not give it a good cosmetic appearance, and should be considered a temporary fix. A joist hanger can be used also to affix the old section of post and the new section together. This will be more cosmetically appealing, especially if the entire post is then painted.
