Drywall screws can “pop” or loosen within the wall and cause an unsightly bulge on the surface of the wall. Removing these screws is the only way to correct the bulge. Start by using a utility knife to carefully cut around the center of the bulged area. Then scrape the drywall around this hole, carefully making an opening that the screw can be removed through. Use a screwdriver to remove the screw and, if desired, to replace it. Then use a piece of drywall tape over the hole, covering this with drywall mud. Allow the drywall mud to dry completely before sanding it smooth and then repainting the affected area.
