On occasion, you will need to hold down a pilot light button to restart things. Here's how.
Step 1 - Clear Fumes
When relighting a pilot light, the gas fumes must first be cleared. Do this by turning the pilot light button or knob to the "off" position and waiting a few moments for the gas to clear.
Step 2 - Light the Flame
Turn the knob or button to the pilot position and light the pilot flame, while holding the button or knob in position.
Continue to hold it in the "Pilot" position for approximately 30 to 45 seconds before releasing and turning to the "On" position.
Step 3 - Repeat
If the pilot does not stay lit, repeat the process, but this time hold the button or knob in "Pilot" position for a few seconds longer, up to one full minute.
