Staining concrete can create an unusually attractive and lasting surface, even under heavy foot traffic. But on new concrete you should know how long you should wait before applying your stain.
Curing of your concrete should be complete before applying stain. In warm temperatures, wait 15 to 20 days. Where temperatures are less than 65 F, wait 30 to 45 days.
Curing Agent Factors
Stains will not penetrate concrete if curing agents remain on the concrete surface. Although removing these agents can be labor intensive and time consuming, if you wish to stain your concrete, you can strip these agents by sanding or grinding.
