How to Add Recessed Lighting to Wood Bookshelves How to Add Recessed Lighting to Wood Bookshelves

What You'll Need
Incandescent bulbs
Light bulb socket
Wire cutter
Screwdriver
Electric tape

Adding recessed lighting to your wood bookshelves will not only help illuminate the room, but also make your place look more attractive. To add recessed lighting to your wood bookshelves, here is what you should do.

Step 1 – Take Measurements

When installing recessed lighting in your wood bookshelves, make sure you leave enough space between the bulbs. A common practice for installing recessed lighting is to space the bulbs 4 to 6 inches apart from each other.

Step 2 – Install the Lightbulb Sockets

Before you attempt to install a lightbulb socket into your wood bookshelves, make sure you turn off the power to the house to avoid accidents. To install the socket, locate the wire connected to your household power supply and attach it to the connectors of the socket. Next wrap the edges of the wire completely and securely with electric tape.

Step 3 – Install the Lightbulbs

After installing all the needed light sockets in your wooden bookshelves, screw in your lightbulbs.
