How to Apply Gel Stain to Wood How to Apply Gel Stain to Wood

What You'll Need
Gel stain
Nonabrasive washcloth
Vacuum cleaner
Feather duster

If you're looking for a fantastic way to accentuate the color of your wood furniture, you should consider applying gel stain. With nothing more than some gel stain and a nonabrasive washcloth or paintbrush, your wood furniture will be spruced up in no time.

Step 1 - Apply Your Initial Coat of Stain

Using a feather duster or a vacuum cleaner with brush attachments, remove all dust from your wood furniture before carrying out the stain application process. Begin this process by applying some gel stain to a nonabrasive washcloth. A paintbrush can also be used to apply your stain, although a washcloth application is arguably the easier of the two methods. Next, using your application tool of choice, begin applying your stain, making sure to brush or rub it onto your furniture in the same direction as the furniture's wood grain.

Step 2 - Apply Additional Coats

Once you've applied the stain to every area of your wood furniture, allow it to dry for the amount of time specified on the product's packaging. Then, if you wish to bring out a darker color, apply a second, and possibly third, coat of stain to the furniture you are working with.
