A sump pump is found in many homes. It is used to collect water runoff from around the home and pump the water away from the house foundation as it collects within the sump pit. A sump pump, when functioning properly can reduce the potential for ruined basements due to water and rain runoff. Below is a guide on how to attach a hose to the sump pump.
Step 1 - Purchase a Sump Pump Hose
There are special hoses that will connect neatly to the sump pump. You can purchase one of these hoses at a local home improvement center.
Step 2 - Attach the Hose to the Sump Pump
Attach the hose to the sump pump. It should twist on easily.
Step 3 - Clamp the Hose
Place a clamp over the end of the hose that is being connected to the sump pump. The clamp gives additional stability to the connection that you are putting in place.
Step 4 - Tighten the Clamp
There are usually two screws present on the clamp. Take your screwdriver and tighten the screws that thread through the clamp. This step is not necessary but will add additional strength to the connection between the hose and the sump pump.
