How to Blend Chili with a Blender
Whatever kind of chili that you are making, a blender is a great tool to help the process along. Though you may not want to put every ingredient of your chili into the blender, to make a nice strong base, you will want to select your chilies, beans, meats and other ingredients before beginning the process.
Prepare Your Ingredients
Before you begin cooking any vegetables or raw beans, throughly clean them with cool water and a soft vegetable brush. You may even want to spray the vegetables with a vegetable cleaning spray.
Chop up the ingredients to be blended into manageable pieces. Make sure you remove any attached stems, seeds or other unwanted things connected to the ingredients. Chopping your ingredients will help you keep your measurements more accurate and help the blender fully blend your food. If you are blending beans with your chili, you will want to follow the recipe as far as cooking them to make sure they are soft enough to blend.
Preparing the Chilies
In addition to chopping the chilies and preparing them to be blended, you will want to place them in a deep pan and fill the pan with water. Let the water boil and allow the chilies to cook over medium heat. Continue to cook the chilies until they are completely soft, but do not remove all the water from the pan, as you will want to add a little of the chili water into your chili. Let the chilies cool down completely before adding them to your blender.
Prepare the Blender
Make sure that you properly put together your blender before use, remembering to install the blade before you add any ingredients for your chili. Plug it in and test it to make sure it is working. If you have not used your blender in a while, you will want to wash it to make sure that it is clean so that you will not have any unwanted bacteria blended with your food. Make sure the blender is completely dry before use.
Using the Blender
Place all the ingredients that you chili recipe requires into the blender. For best results, only fill your blender half full to allow the ingredients to blend easier together. Once everything is in the blender, blend the ingredients until they look like a fine paste, or blend them to your liking. Tastes test it occasionally to make sure you are on the righ track for the flavor you desire.
The Best Ingredients
To get the best tasting homemade recipes, use the freshest ingredients you can find. If you have a local farmer’s market, look for ingredients there. Not only are the vegetables at these markets usually a little cheaper, but also they are also fresher, taste better and are generally more organic than vegetables bought at your local supermarket.
Store your chili in the refrigerator in an airtight container. For long-term storage, consider freezing large amounts.
