How to Blend Vegetables in a Blender

A blender is a great tool for blending vegetables together, whether you want to make juice, soup or baby food. Though the finished result may be slightly different, depending on which blending option you choose, the process is very similar for all these things.

Preparing Your Vegetables

No matter what you are preparing, it is very important to make sure that you clean your vegetables before blending them. Do this by running them under cool water and cleaning them with a soft brush. You may also use a vegetable cleaning spray to clean them.

If you wish, you can peel your vegetables with a vegetable peeler, and some fruits such as oranges and bananas should be peeled before blended.

Cut your fruits and vegetables into smaller, more manageable pieces. This will allow you to put in the right amount of portions, and will help your blender blend the vegetables easier.

Blending Your Vegetables

Add the ingredients you are preparing to the blender, making sure to follow the recipe you are creating. For best results, do not fill your blender very much. This will help the food to mix easier, blending the flavors together. Note that you may have to add other ingredients to blend with your vegetables.

Select the option of blending you would like to use for your vegetables. For smooth, creamy vegetables, you will want to puree them. If you are only chopping them up for a soup, you will want to chop them. Most recipes will tell you which option you should select. If you are not sure about what option you would like, try each option on a few vegetables to see which gives you the results you want.

Juices

If you want to create juices from your vegetables, you will want to add water to your vegetables to give it more of a liquid substance. To make sure you add the right amount, add in small quantities as you go, so that your drinks do not get too watered down.

After the vegetables have been blended with the water, you will need to strain the juice through a fine strainer or cheesecloth. This will make sure that any pulp or seeds will remain behind and your juice will be pure and easy to drink.

If your drinks are too bitter, you can add sugar or honey to sweeten them.

Food Processing

When processing food for pastes, sauces or baby foods, place the vegetables in the blender and blend for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, move the mashed vegetables around and then blend them again. Continue this process, until you reach the results you want.

When pureeing things, you may need to use a high-speed blender or mash things a little before putting into the blender. You can also add spices or other ingredients to make more flavors.

A blender is a great tool that can serve as many functions, and when you need to chop or blend your vegetables, it will chop them to the results you desire.
