How to Brighten Your LED Tail Lights How to Brighten Your LED Tail Lights
For many years, LED tail lights were very unpopular, as they were considered too dull to use properly. Car enthusiasts were not very keen on the LED lights, as they seemed to be ineffectual and less bright than ordinary tail lights. The technology of the LED light has improved since the early days, and you can now find a suitable set of LED lights for any car. You may choose to have your car sent to a local garage or car repair shop in order to have the new lights fitted, or you may decide to install your LED tail lights by yourself. This will only need a few car repair tools and a spare hour or two.
Step 1 - Remove the Old Light
The first thing that you will need to do is to remove the old light from your car. You can do this by opening up your trunk, and then removing the bolt which holds the light in place using your wrench. You may need to use a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the light once it has been released. With the light out of the hole, you can then remove the wires which are attached to it using your wire cutters, or a pair of pliers. This light should then be discarded.
Step 2 - Add the Fiberglass Mount
Most LED lights come with a fiberglass panel which is used to support them in the hole. You should now make sure that the panel can fit into your car. You may need to trim down the body of the fiberglass mount to ensure that it is the correct shape. You should also make sure that you can mount the LED tail lights into the fiberglass panel before you make any serious changes.
Step 3 - Mount the LED Tail Lights
You can now mount your LED lights. You will have to acquire some mounting rods. Cut these down to make 6 screws, and then install the screws into the ends of the LED lights. Place the light glass into the fiberglass mount, and then add the LED lighting system in on top of this. The fiberglass mount should now be held between the two light pieces.
Step 4 - Add the Panels to the Car
You should then place the panels into the car, securing the LED tail lights with the bolt. Take the wires which you removed from the previous light, and fit them into the back of your new tail light. You can easily splice the old wires onto the new wires which come with your LED tail light, making sure that you have left enough wire on the old piece to form a proper connection. Once this is done, you should go to the front of the car, and add an LED flasher component to your turn signal. This may need to be connected to a ground wire, but you should be able to find one of these easily near the dashboard.
