How to Build a Trampoline for Your Backyard
A trampoline in your backyard will help you to keep fit and at the same time releases you from pressure and tension. Prior to deciding on building a trampoline, ensure that you have sufficient space. Bear in mind that safety is a priority so that no one gets hurt while having fun. Assembling a trampoline is quite easy. You only need to pursue the following tips and instruction supplied with your kit.
Step 1 - Purchasing the Trampoline
Trampoline sets are available from any good sport outlet and even from specialized DIY centers. While still at the store, ensure that apart from the contents, you will also have the instruction manual and safety regulations manuals. It is imperative that you read these instructions prior to installation.
If you do not own a large vehicle, arrange with the store for delivery of the kit. Trampoline kits are quiet bulky and heavy.
Step 2 - Opening the Trampoline Box
When you receive the trampoline set, refer to the instructions provided, and sort out all parts. Organize these into an orderly sequence as laid down by the instructions. At this stage, it is advisable that you enlist a friend to assist you. You will appreciate this aid when it comes to spread out the mat.
Step 3 - Setting Up the Frame
The frame is the skeleton of the trampoline and is the first part that needs assembling. Bring together the frame parts according to the instructions, (normally all the parts are numbered, which makes it easier to assemble). Subsequently, sort out the legs. These are usually heavy, short in length and bent at 90 degrees. The legs are simply attached with screws, washers and nuts. Attach the first leg. Next assemble the other leg across the frame (this is where you will need assistance). With two legs connected, ask your assistant to hold the wobbly frame and continue assembling all the other legs. Attach all metal parts and legs securely. Bear in mind that if the frame is not strongly assembled, it might give in and someone might get injured.
Step 4 - Attaching Springs
With the frame fully supported and assembled, attach the springs to the side of the frame. For this purpose, the frame will have ready-made holes in which you simply insert the springs. Leave the springs freely.
Step 5 - Trampoline Mat
Spread out the mat with the aid of your assistant in a suitable area and slide it underneath the frame. Commence from one side, affixing the mat to the springs. Attach the prefabricated grommets on the mat with the springs.
TIP: Connect five springs on the right of the mat, then subsequently affix another five springs on the opposite side. Keep on doing so until all springs are connected. Avoid overstretching the fabric.
Step 6 -Trampoline Net
Fit the netting frame to the side of the trampoline frame, using the bolts and nuts provided. Tie the net securely to the frame. The net provides additional safety to all users and will decrease risks and injuries, thus it is imperative that it is suitably attached.
Following all your hard work, be the first to bluff on the new installed trampoline and show off your jumping skills!
