How to Change Masonry Saw Blades How to Change Masonry Saw Blades

What You'll Need
New blade
Drill bit

Masonry saw blades need to be changed regularly as their edges will dull quickly wen used.

Step 1 - Preparation

Unplug the masonry saw so there’s no danger of it accidentally turning on. Slides back the guard over the blade and then lay the saw down on your work bench. To ensure the saw doesn’t move and to give you two free hands, clamp the saw to the work bench.

Step 2 - Drill Bit

If you have an older saw that doesn’t have a blade lock, find the hole on the masonry saw blade and push a drill bit through it. This will keep the masonry saw blade in place. If yours has a blade lock, engage it.

Step 3 - Removing the Old Blade

At the center of the blade will be the retaining bolt for the masonry saw blade. Select the right size wrench and loosen the bolt until you can remove it. Slid off the old blade and set aside. With a brush, clean out all the dust from the saw.

Step 4 - New Blade

Put the new bolt in place and then tighten the bolt, being careful not to overtighen. Use a drill bit to hold the blade in place if needed. Unclamp the saw and lower the blade guard.
