How to Check the Duct Seal to Your Stainless Steel Range Hood How to Check the Duct Seal to Your Stainless Steel Range Hood

What You'll Need
Mastic
Tape
Aerosol sealant

There are a few different things that you will want to check with the duct seal on your stainless steel range hood. Here is a quick guide to help you through the process.

Step 1 - Check for Problems

Begin by checking to see what the actual problem is. You can tell that something is wrong if you find that some of the ducts are kinked or tangled up. And one of the biggest keys to there being a problem is a temperature change in your home from room to room or a spike in the utility bills. If you find that this is happening to you, you will want to make sure that you are checking the duct seal and addressing any problems that come up.

Step 2 - Fix Problems

If you see that some of the ducts are tangled or kinked, this is a pretty easy fix. You may need to unhook one end, but typically you will be able to just move them around until they have freed up. Or, if there is a hole or crack in one, you can use mastic or an aerosol sealant to put it together again so that no leaking occurs.
