Checking your car's vacuum lines is something that everyone should know how to do. If you have a leak or another issue, it is important to get on it quickly before it progresses into a bigger problem. Here is a list of tools and materials that you will need to complete the check, along with a few steps that can help to guide you.

Step 1 - Pop the Hood

Begin by popping the hood. You can do this by releasing the lever in your car and then reaching under the hood to release the latch that holds it down. Then prop up the hood on the stand that is provided.

Step 2 - Check Out Control Label

In every car there will be a label under the hood with a semi map to check out. If you can't locate this, look at your car's manual. You can find the vacuum line on the map.

Step 3 - Inspect

Once you have found the line, you can take a look at its condition. Check the hose for cracks or breaks by running your hand a long it slowly. If you are having any problems with fit, you can use the end of the utility knife to make adjustments.
