How to Clean a Concrete Floor

What You'll Need
Hard bristled scrub brush
Commercial bleach
Warm water
Spray bottles
Vacuum cleaner

If you've ever been curious about how to clean a concrete floor, it may interest you to learn that it can be a relatively simple undertaking. Below are the steps you'll need to take to effectively clean your home's concrete floors.

Step 1 - Dust Your Concrete Floor

Before proceeding to clean your concrete floor, you'll need to give it a thorough dusting. There are two ways to go about this: vacuuming or sweeping. Should you choose the former, simply run a vacuum cleaner across your concrete floor, making sure to pay special attention to any noticeably dust-laden areas. Wet/dry vacs are particularly effective on concrete floors. If you don't have a vacuum cleaner on hand, use a broom to carefully sweep all the dust your encounter into a dust pan. After removing all the dust from your concrete floor, you'll be ready to begin the cleaning process.

Step 2 - Apply Your Cleaning Solution

Now that your floor is dust free, it's time to clean your concrete floor. Begin this step by combining equal parts warm water and commercial bleach inside of an empty spray bottle. Next, vigorously spray your homemade cleaning solution onto the dirty concrete floor and allow it to set in for 3 to 5 minutes, after which you will need to use a hard bristled scrub brush to administer a thorough cleaning. Once the floor has been successfully cleaned, rinse away any remaining traces of your cleaning solution with the aid of water-filled spray bottle or a hose.
