When you’ve been using the same paint roller for a long time, you may have to clean it in order for it to regain its effectiveness. Cleaning it will just take a few moments and all you need are a few simple materials to accomplish the task. It will also save you money because you won't have to buy a new paint roller.
- Clean Rolling Tray
- Paint Roller
- Paint Thinner
- Trash Bag
- Liquid Dish Soap
Step 1: Preparation
If your roller is still wet with paint, shake of any excess paint from it. Then spread some sheets of newspaper on the floor and roll the paint roller on them to thoroughly remove the paint. Throw out the newspaper immediately.
Step 2: Cleaning the Paint Roller
Pour some thinner in the rolling tray and run the roller in it. Then spread a new batch of newspaper and run the roller on the sheets again. More of the paint should come off. Repeat this step until you don’t see any paint coming off on the newspaper anymore.
Step 3: Finishing
Fill a sink with warm water and mix in some liquid dishwashing soap. Submerge the roller and wash off any stubborn excess paint still on it. When completely clean, rinse the paint roller and let it dry.
