How to Clean a Marble Shower How to Clean a Marble Shower
You must regularly clean your marble shower to keep it safe and looking great. Follow the steps below to effectively clean your shower and maintain its best condition.
Step 1 - Rinse
To begin, rinse your shower. If you have a removable nozzle for the shower head, use it to spray the sides and top of the shower and rinse any hair, debris or dust. Put a trap in the drain so that anything that comes off does not cause buildup in the tub and cause a problem later on with your pipes.
Step 2 - Clean the Shower
As you clean, start with the top of the shower and move down so that anything that comes off moves downward, not contaminating that which has already been cleaned. Spray the section at the top with either a cleaner that is made specifically for marble or a natural multi-purpose cleaner. Your shower manufacturer can recommend the best products or brand for your particular model.
Use a sponge to wipe down small areas of the product from top to bottom. If you have a rough spot, then re-spray the cleaner and let it soak for a minute or so before scrubbing again. You can use a clean rag if the sponge is too rough for you.
Step 3 - Rinse Again
Now that you have cleaned with a product, you can rinse the shower again, beginning and the top to make sure to get all of the suds off and any grime that was removed. Finally, you can clean the bottom of the shower with the cleaner and rinse away one more time.
One great maintenance idea is to rinse the shower after each wash to help prevent buildup from soap scum that can naturally occur. This way, your weekly cleanings will be quicker and more efficient.
Keep in mind that if you have just installed your marble shower or if you are planning to do it in the future, you should seal the marble right away so that it can prevent from any harm done to the tiles. A seal will also allow you to clean the unit more easily and safely.
