How to Clean a Soapstone Sink How to Clean a Soapstone Sink

What You'll Need
Dish soap
Bucket
Warm water
Sponge
Chemical paint stripper
Towel

If your soapstone sink sees any use, it will eventually get dirty. Fortunately, soapstone is a durable material and is easy to clean. By using these techniques, you can keep your soapstone stain free.

Step 1 - Setting Up

To begin, mix a few drops of ordinary dish soap into a bucket of warm water. Stir the ingredients together until they form a lather.

Step 2 - Cleaning the Soapstone Sink

Dip your sponge into the mixture of warm water and dish soap. Use the sponge to apply the mixture to your sink. You can scrub your sink relatively hard as long as you do not use an abrasive pad. Focus your efforts on stains, discolorations, and grime. You should be able to remove them completely with this simple mixture and a little bit of work. Once you have finished, rinse away the soapy water.

Step 3 - Dealing With Tough Stains

Sometimes, your soapstone sink will have stains that cannot be removed by scrubbing with soapy water. In such situations, you can remove the stains with chemical paint stripper. Apply a small amount with a towel, then wait a few minutes before wiping it away.
