How to Clean a Stainless Steel Coffee Cup How to Clean a Stainless Steel Coffee Cup

What You'll Need
1 half cup to 1 cup Vinegar (white or cider)
2-3 tbs. Baking Soda
Hot Water

Many people choose stainless steel coffee cups, mugs and thermoses over other materials because it keeps the liquids so warm. Using them is simple, but cleaning them takes a little more effort. Keep reading for a quick tip on how to keep your stainless steel looking new.

Wash Out

Take your coffee cup or thermos and rinse it with hot water, making sure any surface materials will wash away. Use a paper towel or cloth to wipe anything clean.

Clean Your Cup

Take your vinegar, whether you have white or cider vinegar, and pour it into the cup or thermos. Spin the cup around a bit so the vinegar coats the sides of the inside. Now, pour in the water. Only use less than a half of a cup of water. Now, pour in the baking soda. Immediately cover the cup or thermos with a lid. The mixture will begin to bubble. Shake the cup or thermos for a minute or so to allow the mixture to coat the inside of the mug and clean every spot.

Wash It Out

Dump the mixture in the mug into the sink and wash it down the drain. Wash out the mug with hot water, being sure to wash away all of the excess mixture. Repeat as needed.
