If you've recently had cause to clean your wood fence, you may be wondering how to go about the cleaning process. If so, you'll be pleased to know that cleaning a wood fence is a fairly simple undertaking, particularly if you have the right tools for the job. Read on to learn the basics of wood fence cleaning.
Step 1 - Prep Your Pressure Washer
Before you can begin cleaning your wood fence, you'll need to adjust some settings on your electric pressure washer. Begin this step by setting the device to use a white whine vinegar to water ratio of 1:16. This translates roughly to one gallon of water per cup of white whine vinegar. Next, set the device's pounds per inch, or PPI, indicator to its lowest featured setting, as higher settings will cause permanent damage to your fence.
Step 2 - Begin Cleaning Your Fence
Having prepared your pressure washer, you may now begin cleaning your wood fence. Be sure to clean the boards in a bottom-to-top fashion and take care to only clean one board at a time. If you encounter any stains, incorporate the aid of one of your pressure washer's brush attachments.
Step 3 - Rinse off the Vinegar
Having sufficiently cleaned your fence, give the white wine vinegar roughly ten minutes to sit, then set your pressure washer to spray plain water. Next, rinse off each board in a bottom-to-top fashion, just as your performed the cleaning process.
