Clean cat poop off your couch cushion immediately to prevent any permanent stain and an unpleasant odor. Remember not to rebuke your feline for the accident; even the most trained cats occasionally falter.
Follow these steps to successfully clean cat poop off your upholstery.
Step 1 - Pick and Discard Poop
Insert your hand into plastic grocery bags if there are no gloves around and pick up the pieces of poop. Pull your hand out, turn the bag inside out and tie a tight knot. Dispose the bag appropriately.
Step 2 - Clean the Site Thoroughly
Apply upholstery cleaner designed to remove pet stains on the stain. Let it sit for ten minutes to loosen remaining specs of fecal matter, and wipe it away with a dry terry towel.
An alternative to this is to dab the area with a moist cloth. Refrain from rubbing the site in order to prevent traces of poop from spreading. Dab another dry cloth to absorb moisture and loose fecal particles.
Step 3 - Eliminate the Smell
Eliminating cat poop smell is easy. Apply an enzyme based cleaner designed for pet stains to the cushion to tackle the unpleasant odor. Allow it to air dry before vacuuming.
Step 4 - Refresh the Cushion
Spray any fabric refresher or dab mild perfume on your couch and cushions to make them smell nice and fresh.
