If your leather pants have a smooth finish they can be washed with a sponge or damp cloth to remove any surface dirt or dust. For more serious stains, use a mild detergent and water mix to get rid of the stain.

An inside seam is the ideal location to test whether or not the pants have a finish before dampening them. If they do have a finish, the water will bead, while leather without a finish will cause spotting. If the leather is unfinished like in the case of suede, use a suede brush to clean the pants.

Anytime you clean your pants with a damp cloth and soap, be sure to pat the area down with a dry soft cloth. Apply a fine dusting of baby powder and then use the cloth again to return the shine.
