Natural cork flooring is a popular option for many homeowners. It is both beautiful and durable. This type of flooring requires a small amount of effort to clean and maintain it. By following some special steps, you can ensure that your cork floor will look terrific for a long time.

Step 1 – Removing Surface Dirt and Debris

Use a broom and vacuum cleaner to remove the surface dirt, dust and debris from the natural cork flooring.  Dirt can scratch your floor if it is not removed. If possible, use a vacuum with no bristles to prevent scratching.

Step 2 – Choosing the Best Cleaner

Read the instructions provided by the cork floor cleaner. Be sure you have a cleaner designed specifically for natural cork floors. This product should be pH balanced. Do not use any cleaner that contains ammonia or bleach. Do not use any products with abrasive particles in them.

Step 3 – Cleaning the Cork Flooring

Use a mop to apply the cleaner to the floor. Wring out all excess liquid from the mop. Your cork flooring will absorb the excess water, as this can cause swelling and warping in the flooring. It can also lead to mold and mildew growth.
