How to Clean PVC Window Frames How to Clean PVC Window Frames

What You'll Need
Mild bleach
Water
Sponge
Feather duster
Nonabrasive washcloths
Empty spray bottles

PVC window frames can be a great way to accentuate the outside of your home and give it a more contemporary look. However, if you neglect to clean these frames on a regular basis, they can accumulate a fair amount of dirt and even come under fire from mold and/or mildew.

Step 1 - Dust Your Window Frames

When cleaning PVC window frames, you will need to begin by removing any dust from the frames. Using a lightly dampened nonabrasive washcloth, wipe the frames until they are completely dust-free. If need be, use a feather duster to remove dust deposits from any difficult-to-reach corners or crevices.

Step 2 - Mix Your Cleaning Solution

Now that your PVC window frames have been purged of dust, it's time to mix your frame-cleaning solution. Open up an empty spray bottle and pour in 1 cup of mild bleach followed by several cups of water. After the ingredients have been added, seal the bottle and move on to the next step.

Step 3 - Clean Your Window Frames

You'll now need to spray your homemade cleaner onto your dirty PVC frames. Once the cleaner has been applied, allow it to sit for several minutes, then proceed to wipe down your frames with a sponge or nonabrasive washcloth. After the frames have been sufficiently cleaned, spray them with a water-filled spray bottle, then use a nonabrasive cloth to wipe off any remaining traces of your bleach-based cleaner.
