How To Clean Satin Painted Walls
Satin painted walls have a slightly glossy finish that is beautiful and appealing to look at in almost any home. To maintain that look you will want to clean them regularly.
Cleaning the Walls
Do not use water in heavy amounts to clean satin painted walls, as this may remove the slight gloss finish to the paint. Instead clean your walls regularly with a duster to keep dust and dirt off of the walls.
On a monthly basis, take a lightly damp sponge and clean the walls, starting at the bottom and working your way to the top. This will remove any dirt and dust and keep the satin appearance intact.
If you see fingerprints on the walls, use a slightly damp sponge and wipe the marks off of the wall. You can also use a small amount of ammonia in the water to clean any additional or particularly stubborn finger prints. Do not rub into the wall or you will rub the paint off or damage it.
Occasionally, it may be necessary to touch up the paint. You can accomplish this by using a clean fresh paint brush and a small amount of paint applied to an area where you have already cleaned. Make sure you always use a clean brush for this task.
