When you are called upon to clean vomit it is a rather unpleasant job. However, if you have had sick children you know that this job will be soon coming. While it is an unpleasant job it can be easily done with a few simple steps.

Clean up Solids with Paper Towels

Without applying too much pressure, clean up the solid parts of the vomit with paper towels. If you press too hard, it will smear into the fibers of the fabric, making it harder to clean up.

Remove Any Fabrics That You Can

If the vomit is on an item such as a rug, bed sheet, pillow case, cushion covering or some other item that you can remove, wash it in hot water. Hand washing is recommended. Apply a stain remover like OxiClean Maxforce Laundry Stain Remover or Zout and follow the label instructions. If you do not have a stain remover on hand, let the item soak in warm water and laundry detergent for 30 minutes to one hour before washing.

Scrub Clean

Use a soft bristled brush or sponge to clean the vomit from the area.

Use Stain Remover on Carpet

If the vomit is on a carpet, spray carpet stain remover onto the area and let it dissolve some of the vomit from the fibers. Use a steam cleaner on the area until the vomit is removed.
