Waterproof car seat covers keep messes from pets, kids and spills off of your car seats. However, they need to be cleaned regularly in order to keep the car smelling clean and looking fresh. Most waterproof car seat covers are not machine-washable, but are quite easy to clean.
Tools and Materials Needed:
- Paper towels
- Vacuum hose
- Multi-surface cleaner
Step 1 - Wipe Up Mess with Paper Towels
You can often simply wipe up a mess with paper towels. Since the seat covers are waterproof, they will repel the spill.
Step 2 - Vacuum the Seat Covers
Your waterproof seat covers may accumulate dust, dirt, fur and dander that you cannot wipe away with paper towels. Use the hose on a vacuum to suction away all of these particles.
Step 3 - Use the Surface Cleaner
If the seat covers remain sticky or dirty after wiping away the mess with paper towels and vacuuming, you can use a multi-surface spray cleaner to clean up the mess and kill bacteria. Simply remove the seat covers from the car, spray thoroughly with the surface cleaner and use a cloth to wipe away the cleaner. Allow the seat covers to dry before you put them back on the car seats.
