How to Clean Your Copper Fire Bowl

What You'll Need
Lemon Juice or Vinegar
Clean and Soft Cloth or Rag

A copper fire bowl is a classy, beautiful addition to your patio.  After many enjoyable evenings beside the flames, you’ll want to give the fire bowl a good clean to keep it in decent shape and looking sharp.

Step 1 – Clear Away the Debris

Remove left over ashes (once cooled) from the fire bowl, as well as any debris.  Wipe the bowl quickly with a paper towel.

Step 2 – Decipher What Type of Copper

Find out whether your copper fire bowl has a lacquer finish.  This type of coating allows you to clean the bowl with a simple soap and water solution.  Otherwise, your average copper fire bowl can be cleaned with acidic solutions from around the house.  Lemon juice or vinegar works the best.  Dilute the vinegar with one equal part water if desired.

Step 3 – Wipe Clean

Using the cleaning solution as stated above, apply to the inside of the copper bowl and wipe clean using the soft cloth.  Never use a brush, bristles, scrubber or rough pad on a copper surface, as it will permanently scratch the soft metal.  If the stains are stubborn, apply more cleaning solution and let sit.  Once the inside is clean, wipe the outside as well.

Step 4 – Dry and Reassemble

Dry with another clean, soft cloth and set the fire bowl back up for the next warm and cozy night.
