How to Connect a Karaoke Machine to Your Home Entertainment System
Hooking up your new karaoke machine is a very simple undertaking, particularly if you're armed with the right set of instructions. To make sure all parts of your entertainment system are properly connected, read on the learn everything you'll need to know.
Step 1 - Take the Necessary Safety Precautions
Before attempting to hook up your new karaoke machine, you'll need to make sure that the machine and the device to which you wish to connect it are safely turned off. If you want to be extra cautious, turn off all of your home entertainment center's components and feel free to unplug them, too. When working with electronics, personal safety should always be at the very top of your priority list, so take care not to skip this crucial step. After confirming that all the necessary devices have been shut off, you may proceed with the next step.
Step 2 - Begin Connecting Your Machine to Your Television
Begin this step by taking out the audio and video patch cords that were included with your machine. These cords may be colored coded, depending on the device, with the red and white cords representing video and the yellow cord representing audio. From here, it's simply a matter of matching each cord with its corresponding port on both devices.
Carefully place the red, white and yellow cords in the audio and video plug-in ports found on the back ends of your karaoke machine and television. For most newer high definition televisions, however, these plug-in ports tend to be located on the television's right side. To simplify things even further, the devices' respective plug-in ports, much like the audio and video cords, will almost certainly be color coded, so you shouldn't have any problem determining which cord connects to which port. These patch cords will help ensure that the machine's sound comes through clearly and the song lyrics are properly displayed on your television screen.
If you experience problems in either area, it's most likely due to an improperly attached cord. Once your patch cords are securely in place, you'll be ready to move on.
Step 3 - Apply Your Finishing Touches
Having made the necessary connections, you're almost finished. All that's left is to plug the microphone that was included with your machine into its designated plug-in port, which can usually be found on the device's back end. Now plug in your new karaoke machine, fire it up, turn on your television and enjoy.
