How to Cut a Fiberglass Roofing Panel

What You'll Need
Measuring Tape
Utility Knife
Circular Saw and Plywood Blade

A fiberglass roofing panel is a clever roofing design that enables sunlight to pass through in order to project some light into your home. This is made possible because of its corrugated design. Fiberglass roofing is also a lightweight, yet sturdy, alternative to ordinary roofing materials. Cutting this material requires tools that have high RPMs in order not to damage the fiberglass.

Step 1: Measuring the Fiberglass Roofing Panel

Place the fiberglass roofing on the worktable. Get your tape measure and pull it along the length of the panel and make a mark on where you want to cut it. Use the tape measure as your guide in making the mark.

Step 2: Secure the Panel

Hold the panel loosely to prevent it from moving while making the cut. Use one hand to hold the panel down onto your worktable. Do not use clamps or any other gadget that will grasp it since it may damage or break the fiberglass. Your hand and weight will do just fine.

Step 3: Cutting the Fiberglass Roofing Panel

Get your circular saw with the plywood blade fitted on it and align it to the edge of the mark you made on the panel. Turn on the saw and start cutting form the point of the mark. Start pushing the saw to begin the cut and push slowly until it reaches the end of the panel.

Step 4: Finishing

After the portion of the panel has been cut, get your utility knife and cut the edge of the newly cut portion of the fiberglass roofing panel. Ensure to run it across it in order to clean up the rough edges.
