When installing suspended ceiling tiles, you will come to a point where you will need to cut some parts in order to make them fit into the ceiling space. This is especially evident when you get nearer the wall during installation. In order to fill up the ceiling perfectly, some of the suspended tiles need to be trimmed. This is not a problem at all and you just need a couple of simple tools to do the job.
Tools and Materials
- Utility Knife
- Tape Measure
- Work Bench
Step 1: Measure the Gap
Using the tape measure, get the dimensions of the gap that needs to be filled on the ceiling. Try to be as precise as possible and note this down.
Step 2: Mark the Tile
Make the appropriate markings on the tile based on the measurements that you took. Use a pencil and straightedge to do this.
Step 3: Cutting the Tile
Set the tile face up on the workbench and use the utility knife to slice the markings you made with the pencil. Use the straightedge also while accomplishing this.
Step 4: Breaking the Tile
Once you’ve made your incision, snap the tile on the cut areas. Now you will have the perfect measurement of suspended ceiling tiles.
