How to Deodorize Cat Pee Out of Your Carpet

One of the inevitable problems with house training your kitten is finding cat pee in your carpet. Until the cat learns where the cat litter box is, it will go anywhere. This, unfortunately, is usually in your carpet. Removing the pee smell is not a tough thing to do. In fact, there are several methods for cleaning your carpet. Here is a quick how-to that is easy and inexpensive.

Spread Baking Soda

Baking soda works much better than carpet cleaner when cleaning out odors. Spread it around the carpet quite liberally.

Use Hydrogen Peroxide

Rub it into the baking soda. This is not only a cleaning agent, but one that will kill the bacteria in the fibers of the carpet and the padding underneath.

Pour Vinegar On Carpet

Vinegar is used in a lot of different applications because of its odor neutralizing abilities. Pour some white vinegar onto the carpet and it will immediately begin reacting with the baking soda. Let it foam and work to dissolve the stain and remove the odor.

Vacuum Up

Fill up your carpet cleaning machine with warm water and dish washing liquid and immediately clean the rug. Make sure all the chemicals have been soaked up and nothing remains on the carpet.
