Fabric paint is made to adhere to clothing. Like some other types of paint, removing it once it has dried can be a challenge. Nonetheless, with the right materials and procedures, it can be done. Here's how:
Things You'll Need:
- Liquid hand sanitizer
- Rubbing alcohol
- Small mixing bowl
- Cotton cloth
- Dull knife
- Hair spray
Step 1 – Apply a Homemade Paint Remover
For a homemade paint remover that will usually work, mix a solution of rubbing alcohol and liquid hand sanitizer in proportions of one to one in a bowl or pan. Rub the paint with a clean cloth saturated in this solution. This will loosen the paint if it is rubbed with vigor.
Step 2 – Remove the Loosened Paint
Remove the paint you have loosened by scraping it from the fabric using a knife with a dull edge. Avoid using a sharp edge, as it is more likely to cut the fabric. Most of the paint can be removed with this procedure. Some paint residue will likely be left on the clothing.
Step 3 – Remove Remaining Paint
Remove residual paint by spraying it with hair spray. After it has sat 4 to 5 minutes, launder the clothing as you normally would.
