How to Get Rid of Cockroaches Naturally How to Get Rid of Cockroaches Naturally

There are a few different techniques you can try to get rid of cockroaches naturally. Though it may seem easier to use pesticides or call an exterminator to use chemicals to help you, these substances can do damage to your home and to the health of your family. It is a good idea to try these following tips before resorting to harsher substances.

Borax and Diatomaceous earth

Sprinkle Borax, an ingredient for homemade laundry detergent, around your home where your cockroach infestation is the worst. If you do not have access to Borax, you can also use diatomaceous earth, as the method and results will be exactly the same. If cockroaches come into contact with the Borax, they will become dehydrated because the substance will seep through its shell, damaging it. They will eventually die, as they cannot stay hydrated while their shell is injured.

Catnip and Bay Leaves

Cockroaches hate the small of catnip and bay leaves, and if you deposit small samples of these products around you home, it will drive the roaches away. It is best to put these samples in your kitchen and other places where the cockroaches are seen. This method will not harm the cockroaches in any way.

Make a Roach Poison

To make a roach poison, all you must do is mix together equal portions of sugar and baking soda and sprinkle it around the places where your house is infested. Roaches like sugaring and will consume the mixture, but the baking soda will affect the stomachs internally and kill the cockroaches. This is an easy method using common household products.
