A bathroom mirror is an essential fixture that you can find in bathrooms all over the world. As well as its functionality, bathroom mirrors are also excellent decorative fixtures that greatly enhances the look and feel of a bathroom. There are two major types of bathroom mirrors – framed and frameless. Proper hanging of a mirror in your bathroom is necessary to make sure that it is placed securely on the wall.

Step 1 - Choose the Location

Choose the location of your bathroom mirror. Bathroom mirrors are ideally located below a bathroom sink but you can choose any location you want as long as it is installed neither too high nor too low. Once you have selected an appropriate location, mark the center spot with an “X” using a dry erase marker. Mark the center of the bathroom mirror as well.

Step 2 - Position the Mirror on its Place on the Wall

Have a work partner hold the mirror up on the wall and have it positioned so that the mid-point marks for both are aligned. The borders of the mirror on the wall should be marked with a pencil lightly.

Step 3 - Work on the Drywall

Find the two studs at the back of the drywall where the mirror will be hung using a stud finder. Put pencil markings on its location. Draw a line midway between the studs using a level to maintain the mirror’s level on the wall.

Step 4 - Attach the J-Clips

Using two J-clips, attach its bottom to the wall following the marks with flathead wood screws. The tops of the anchored pieces must be fastened to the wall. The two J-clips should be slipped lightly into the anchors.

Step 5 - Secure the Bathroom Mirror in Place

Position the bathroom mirror into the bottom of the J-clips. The clips must be pressed down so that the ends go over the rim of the mirror and secure it against the wall.

Hanging a Framed Mirror

Step 1 - Attach Screws

To install a bathroom mirror with a frame, fasten eye screws behind the mirror frame. Fasten one eye screw at the left side and 2 inches higher than the vertical center of your mirror frame. Attach the other screw to the right side as well.

Step 2 - Attach the Wire

Determine the appropriate wire to use for hanging the framed mirror. The wire should be wrapped through one eye screw and twisted securely using pliers. Leave enough wire extension so that the other side will be done in the same manner.

Step 3 - Determine if a Stud is Present

Make a mark on the wall with a pencil. Determine if there is a stud using a stud finder and if present, all you need are a couple of screws to attach the framed bathroom mirror into your bathroom wall. If there are no studs present at your chosen location you can either pick a different location where there are studs or secure the mirror to the wall with the use of a hollow wall anchor.

Step 4 - Attach the Nail to the Mirror

Hold down the mirror and bring up the wire by the center. Determine the measurement from the bottom of the frame to the top of the mid-point of the wire and this will give the location of where to attach the nail.

Step 5 - Hang the Mirror

Pick up the mirror and hang on the installed nail. Make sure that the mirror is evenly positioned on the wall.
